Boy are we ever getting spoiled by waking up to warm weather!  When Alyson left Lynchburg, VA early this morning, it was 20°. She texted us while changing planes in Charlotte, NC and asked us if the sun was shining here. It is 73° here already at 11:00 a.m. and we are expecting a high temperature of 86° today. Some people might say it is too hot, but you will NEVER hear me complain. This is going to be a huge change for Alyson in just a few hours!

This morning, the ladies have a weekly event on the golf course. All the time we have been here, I have imagined a huge conveyor belt running on the hole across the lake from our condo. As soon as one group of golfers reaches the green, we can see another group moving into position in their golf carts. Today however, it reminds me of an army invasion. It seems like the women drive their golf carts differently than men. For sure, the women have to stop and hit more often. Looks a bit like ants running all around. I saw at least 3 different groups out there—one group was waging an assault on the green, while a second group was moving into striking position and the third and maybe even fourth group were sitting in the rear in reserve!

Alyson arrived early this afternoon and we are grateful that she had uneventful flights.

The Ft. Meyers airport is a lot more accessible than any of them in our area and it does provide international service. Of course, it doesn’t need to be as large as the ones that serve our area. Must be a lot of old people arriving in Florida because not only did we see them, but we observed a porter pushing 4 wheelchairs and another one pushing 3 wheelchairs to meet a flight.

Alyson thought it was interesting that the speed limit at Spring Run is 19 MPH since that is her age.

The first thing she did upon coming into our condo was to put on her sandals.

We spent the rest of the afternoon sitting out on our lanai and “chilling it” as best as we could in this warm weather.

My son’s mother-in-law, Paulette, gave us one of the best Christmas gifts we have ever received. It was a package of wine, cheese and sausage with a note that another basket was being sent to our Florida address. That second gift arrived today! One of the items was a small box of chocolate candy—3 pieces—the exact number for Cordell, Alyson and myself! It was just what we needed to top off our taco dinner tonight!

Yes ma'am! Allison got it right! Take off the sneaks, put ON the sandals... or in my case flipflops!
