We were flocked this morning! The lake by our condo was swarmed by a variety of water fowl. It was a beautiful sight to behold and something that we haven’t seen in all the days we have been here.

I feel like it was a special blessing for me since God knows how much I love nature and feel His presence so much when I am out in it. I could almost hear Him whisper, “Just look what I have for you today!”

Barb and I spent a lot of time outside our lanai taking photos and just listening to the songs the birds were singing to us.

When any golfers came by, the birds only moseyed closer to the water. And the golfers never seem distracted by the birds.

Jim remarked that it looked like kids playing in the bathtub.

Many snowy egrets and some great blue herons were lined up and down both sides of the banks of the lake like soldiers on guard. Jim thought they looked like they were queued up at the cafeteria lunch line.

The cormorants have no oil in their feathers and so they had to occasionally come out of the water and spread their wings to dry.

We also observed great snowy egrets,  ducks, grey pelicans, white pelicans and storks—all enjoying their smorgasbord. Most of them didn't bother each other's fishing space, although I watched one egret that chased away anything and everything that came too near.

After about an hour passed, most all of the birds and ducks were gone. All of us remained in awe of the beauty we had watched

We went to the swimming pool for a while in the late afternoon and several residents were there too. The Spring Run community seems to be comprised of retired people. Barb commented that she didn’t realize how young she is until she got to southwestern Florida!

There is a fabulous Bass Pro Shop in Fort Myers that also has a restaurant inside. We had eaten there last year and went there for dinner tonight with Jim and Barb.

Cordell had alligator while I opted for shrimp and oysters.

The atmosphere in the store and the restaurant makes me feel like I am in the great outdoors.

I was glad that we didn’t have to spend so much time catching our food like the fowl we saw earlier today! After dinner, we explored around the store for a while. Barb bought a tackle box and lures for her grandson. I found a great hat to use for fishing this summer in our lake. Maybe it will bring me luck.

After we returned to our condo, we ate strawberry short cake since we finished Barbie’s birthday cake yesterday. I have begun to wonder how much gulf shrimp and local strawberries I can eat before I grow tired of them!

We had another pretty sunset.

When we turned in for the night, all four of us were still talking about the wondrous bird show we had this morning.
