Both of us were so tired last night that we celebrated the
New Year on European time and went to sleep after the bowl game was over.
However, we did not miss the arrival of the New Year because we were awaked by
the sound of fireworks. The town had a huge celebration and we watched a
fireworks display from our top floor window.
After breakfast on New Year’s Day, we grabbed our things and loaded them in our car for the last time for a while. A few minutes’ drive brought us to the Spring Run Community. We are in the Hidden Lakes section.

Our
condo is across a small lake from the Number 12 hole on the golf course. We
have enjoyed sitting on our lanai and watching the golfers play through. There
are a couple of sand traps and we can’t resist laughing when we hear moans,
groans and occasionally a few choice words!
We have settled in nicely. Cordell has become concerned
because and after two days, I began to refer to this place as home.
We have enjoyed temperatures in the high 70’s to low 80’s
every day since we have been in Bonita Springs.
We took some time to shop for groceries and birthday presents for our
granddaughter.
We are expecting our college age niece, Alyson, to arrive on Tuesday to spend some time with us. We have a room all ready for her.
We have only looked for 3 geocaches because we are waiting
to take Alyson with us. We introduced her to this activity last year and she
developed her geo-sense very quickly. She has expressed an interest in caching
with us while she is here.
While we were shopping on Friday, we noticed that there was
a nearby cache. We couldn’t resist taking a few minutes to search for it. As
happens occasionally, there was another geocacher already at the site when we
arrived. She is from California and when I asked her why she came all the way
to Florida instead of staying on the west coast, she explained that she and her
husband were traveling in a RV and were touring with a group. She has found
almost 1,600 caches—more than twice the number we have.
So, it has been just over one year since Cordell retired and
it appears that he has learned that retirement is so much better than working.

So glad you all are safe and having a good time. I noticed there's an extra bed in Alyson's room......hint,hint,hint.
You are just like me... wherever I am, that is HOME! Looks like y'all are breakin' the place in for me! :) I'm going to wait until after the funeral... but then I'm coming! Can't wait!
